Panda Education Free Cultural Event – Rice Dumpling (Zongzi) Making

At Panda Education, all student activities are free!

The Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu) is coming soon. One of the most cherished traditions is making and eating zongzi – sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves. This custom dates back to the poet Qu Yuan, and today zongzi are enjoyed for their delicious taste: soft glutinous rice with savory meat or sweet red bean paste.

In this event, you will:

  • Learn about the history and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival
  • Master the skill of wrapping zongzi (triangular and square shapes)
  • Taste the zongzi you make yourself

Event Details

  • Date & Time: Sunday, 14 June 2026, 10:20 – 12:00
  • Location: Panda Education Jing’an Campus (Suite 1808, Building A, Universal Mansion, 168 Yuyuan Road, Jing’an District, Shanghai)
  • Capacity: 6 persons (free for current students; RMB 50 per person for non-students)
  • Language: The instructor speaks both Chinese and Japanese.

Gift: Each participant will receive a plant-based sachet made of pure silk, symbolizing good health and peace.
