On April 19, 2025, Panada Education organized an immersive cultural excursion to Zhujiajiao Ancient Town for its international students. The event combined language learning with hands-on exploration of Jiangnan water town heritage.
At 10:00 AM, participants gathered at Exit1 of Zhujiajiao Station (Line 17), where Senior Chinese Language Instructor Shen Peimiao introduced the itinerary in Chinese, English, and Japanese. The group then explored five iconic landmarks: Kezhi Garden (a scholar's retreat blending Chinese and Western landscaping), Hexin Garden, Shanghai Helong Art Museum, Yuanjin Buddhist Temple, and the local City God Temple. Through
comparative analysis of Zen philosophy and folk traditions, Shen illuminated architectural details while sparking lively discussions about cultural symbolism.
A highlight emerged during the complimentary riverside lunch at a traditional farm house restaurant. Students savored Shanghai local cuisine including poached chicken with ginger sauce, soy-glazed river shrimp, and a Jiangnan-style adaptation of kung pao chicken, while practicing dining etiquette phrases. Post-lunch, the cobble stone alley ways became impromptu classrooms as learners conversed with artisans using
newly acquired Mandarin expressions.

The excursion concluded with a special farewell gift—custom-designed cloisonné panda phone charms symbolizing Zhujiajiao’sliterary legacy. Participants praised the experience as “a perfect fusion of language practice and cultural discovery.”

Panada Education remains committed todesigning authentic cultural immersion programs that empower international learners to bridge linguistic and cultural divides.
